Classic with a modern twist, elegant, sophisticated.Inspiration:
I love looking at artwork; paitings and architecture serve as constant sources of inspiration. The textures inform a lot of the embroidery and embellishment techniques I use. I also find inspiration in the fabrics themselves. Silks, jacquards, mikados - each fabric drapes differently in its own beautiful way. Frequently I'll start with a fabric and then design into it, creating sketches/styles with that particular fabric in mind. Above all else I feel extremely lucky to be able to do what I love for a living! My favorite part about being a designer is making something from scratch and seeing the process through from an initial sketch to a finished gown.
Late Night Studio Vice:
I love a good coffee run at night before the show! Also you can never have enough chocolate in the studio!
Unexpected Fact:
I try all of the gowns on! I like to try them on during the initial muslin stages to see how they feel; if I put on a gown and it doesn't have that "wow" factor then I know something is off and I'll keep tweaking it until it does.
